A Kind Word, A Listening Ear

I am here to listen, empathetically, to your stories of abuse and to gift words of compassion when you are ready to receive them. At this time, I am offering social counseling; however, I am in the process of gaining certification as a life coach.

As it pertains to my experience in the area of surviving abuse, for the first 21 years of my life, I lived in a situation that would have driven many to suicide. A victim of daily psychological and verbal abuse, mine was a hell that no person should have to endure.

The unfortunate thing is that I was subjected to this abuse by two of the individuals in my household, making the situation even more challenging. It was so bad, one day the effects of the abuse manifested in the development of a tick where my right leg bounced uncontrollably. I literally lived in fear for most of my childhood, teenage, and young adult years.

Pure fear. Mercy came for me in the form of a letter of acceptance from Smith College. Leaving St. Louis is what saved my life. (Although I did return home during spring break because I had no where else to go, upon graduating from college I vowed to never return home or even to St. Louis – the nightmare had ended.)

However, I carried around those feelings of inferiority and fear of relationships for many years to come until one day I had an epiphany: I deserved happiness in my life just as much as the next person. When I came to this realization, my whole life paradigm shifted and I came to know Gwen. And this is where I stand: A woman who not only survived, but gave herself permission to rise…and shine. I want the same for you. I genuinely do.

Contact me, today. Sending you peace.
